Marine Roadmap (North Devon UNESCO Biosphere)

Our Role: Chloe was Marine Project Coordinator for the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere

About the Project:

The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere has long served as a global model for balancing human development with environmental sustainability. Its marine environment is a vibrant mosaic of life, where unique habitats support a rich diversity of species. These waters are not only ecologically significant but also vital to the wellbeing of local communities and the regional economy.

The aims for the Marine Biosphere are encapsulated within the Biosphere’s 2025-35 Strategy and the Marine Nature Recovery Plan, 2022-27.

The overall aim is to ensure that all marine priority habitats are in a state of recovery or resilience, supporting rich biodiversity, sustainable fisheries & coastal communities that are stewards of a healthy marine environment. In the period until 2035, we aim to achieve 10,000 hectares of marine priority habitats in recovery.
